I’m participating in a 30 Day Living Mindfully Blog Challenge. This is my day 2 entry, which answers the following question:
When I brought my full consciousness to my breathing, time stood still, but it also made me fully aware of every second ticking by.
I felt my ribcage expand and contract with every inhale & exhale. I marveled at how air – this abundant, free resource – helps to keep the blood flowing inside my body, how it allows my heart to pump vital nutrients though out the major organs of my body to keep me alive.
With my eyes kept shut, I became acutely aware of the sounds around me. The quiet hum of the electric fan. My toddler turning over in his sleep. The neighbor’s chickens crowing outside. Random thoughts filling my head. The chores I have yet to fulfill throughout the day.
Paying attention to my breath pulled me squarely into the present moment.
